So, I was up until one or like, two doing homework and getting some scholarship stuff done. And then after that, I stayed up and cleaned/organized my room. I can’t clean it without doing some organizing. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think it looks very nice. Anyways, I was up until approximately four in the morning, cleaning. I really wanted to vacuum, but figured that it would have to wait because of the fact that people were sleeping, and I didn’t want to wake them.
I had two scholarships to get postmarked by the first of February, and one of them was more or less done. The other one, however, was nowhere close to being done. I needed to compile a list of school activities, discuss my community activities, and also discuss how I planned on financing my college expenses (tuition, textbooks, food, etc.). On top of that, I had to HANDWRITE a personal résumé. Why the hell would I need to write it by hand? It’s probably a lot easier to read it if it’s typed anyways. I’d hate to be on a scholarship committee… icky.
Before I went to bed, I figured that this second scholarship (the one with the handwritten personal résumé would not take me very long, and I could get up early to finish it. I planned on getting up at 0800 to finish my scholarship application; that would give me at least a half and hour to get ready for school and at most, an hour and a half to finish my application. Before going to bed, I set the two alarms on my alarm clock. Knowing I was going to be tired in the morning, I even turned the alarm volume up. I was planning on setting a couple alarms on my cel phone, too, but I couldn’t figure out where I had placed it.
I woke up, and the sun was up… which was fine. At this point during the year, the sun is usually up by eight in the morning anyways. However, something was wrong. I looked outside, and it was too bright. Don’t ask me how I determined it, but I could tell that it was a little later than eight o’clock. Groggy, I rolled over to take a peek at my alarm clock. It was fricking 1008 in the morning. Most days, fourth period is my first period of the day, so I don’t have to leave my house until about 1005. Getting up at 1008 was definitely stressful. I flew out of bed, put my Sound of Music t-shirt on and then proceeded to find a pair of sweats that matched. In five minutes or less, I was out my door and on my way to school.
I get to school, and bring all of my crap up to my classroom. I had my bookbag, like always, and my laptop as well. I had parked out in the back lot because nobody had pulled out of any of the front spots for lunch. I get inside, and am almost ready to turn into the English hallway, and realize that I left my car unlocked. At our school, leaving your car unlocked is HORRIBLE. There are some kids who go around checking doors. If the door is unlocked, they jump inside and smoke cigarettes (among other things) inside of the automobile that isn’t theirs. SOOOOO, I get to English, and set my stuff down. I told my teacher that my lights were on at my car, so I needed to go turn them off. He let me go, cuz he’s just that nice of a guy. Anyways, on the way out to my car, I see a parking spot that is almost as close to the school as anybody can get. I wanted it… I got out to my car, and drove it from the back lot to the front parking spot. Heck yes.
So, fourth period, I was working on scholarship stuff, getting it done (more or less). Then I had band, during which my director watches me (kind of) like a hawk because I had done homework during class one day (I was resting, it didn’t really matter). Anyways, our first two chairs were gone, so I actually had to count my rests and play the solos, which I had never read before in my life. They didn’t go too horribly, thank god. During band, I hit a bunch of the high notes though, so I’m super glad about that.
After band, I ran my ass up to the media center to go get more scholarship stuff done. But no, I couldn’t just do it in peace; I had a National Honors Society meeting during lunch, too. So, while the meeting was going on, I was typing furiously, rushing to get stuff done. And by the end of the period, I (of course), didn’t have both of them done. I had one of them mostly written, so that was okay. The other one (with the handwritten personal résumé) still needed to be, well, handwritten.
So I go to calculus, and find out that I have a test on Wednesday. FUCKING GREAT. So, of course, I don’t pay attention in class, and I start writing my personal résumé. And, I don’t finish it, right? Right. So, after calculus, I rush out of class to go to Wal-Mart and the post office…
And so I practically run out to my car, and jump in., starting the car in neutral so I didn’t have to keep the clutch in. I’m super speeding out to Wal-Mat, and I decide to take 20th to Northwestern, and then take Northwestern to Grand, and then Grand to Wally World. I check my clock, which said approximately 2:25. I thought I was good to go, and set out to speed to Wal-Mart. Over by Fellows, I check the time again, and then realize that the clock in my car is an hour fast. Due to my school day ending after sixth (first semester), I was confused as to when my day ended THIS semester. Jesus Christo, I had a seventh period class to rush to… and not only was it just a seventh period class, it was a seventh period class WITH MR. DADDOW, who already hates me for being late because I went to the bathroom. Whatever, though, I guess. I turned around in the Fellows parking lot, and sped my way back into the same parking spot I had left earlier.
I ran into the school and to Mr. Daddow’s class, where I was about a minute or so late. Damn. Anyways, we discussed current events, and I sat there and attempted to finish my résumé. Too bad I spent some of my time during that period evading Mr. Daddow’s glares at my non-government homework. So I finished the one page of my résumé, and then class ended—Daddow had assigned a whole chapter for Monday. What with musical and everything else, I was not happy. I had to sprint back to the media center to print off another sheet for me to scribe the rest of my résumé, and then I super-sped off to Wal-Mart. After getting those, I sat in the parking lot of Wal-Mart and finished my résumé. MEHR.
I bought me some manila envelopes to send my scholarships in with, and then sped to ACE Hardware to the post office that was in there. After getting those mailed, I started off to my biology class at Iowa State. Things were going great until I turned onto 13th Street. There was an effing train. A;ISODFBLAISUDGFL!!!!!!!!! So I turned onto 12th, and got my car back onto Grand, where I went under the overpass thing, and made it to my church, where I park during my classes.
I practically ran to my building (which is more or less on the other side of campus, mind you), but I still managed to be a minute or two late for class. Anyways, I only missed one question on my quiz, and managed to pull off an 80%. However, I have a test on Monday, and studying is going to be a pain in the ass (due to the musical).
When I got home after class, I told my mom the story of my recent day from hell, and then I had to finish cleaning my room and vacuum. I hate vacuuming. And then, it was off to musical. After musical, I had to hang around and help clean schtuff up. That’s right. Schtuff. Anyways, I left super late, and called it good. I didn’t get home until about midnight, where I found our two guests (from the St. Olaf Orchestra) sitting at our kitchen table. We talked for a while, and then I went to bed one-ish.
See? ‘Twas a day from hell, I tell you! Too bad th week isn’t going to be THAT much better.
