inconveniences

So, welcome to the new year! I went down to Florida (which was freezing) and saw the Hawks chuck some frozen(ish) oranges into the crowd... which was way cool. I got up and left the stands like three times. I think you would too, if you were sitting next to the most incompetent trumpet player/marcher ever. That, and I had to pee once.

But then I get back from Florida and go eat pancakes and drink some mimosas with some friends. Good. Then I got home, and got a call from a friend who just went through a break up. So, she came over and I tried helping her out with that. Not great. And then after she left, I showered and took an insanely long nap... with a friend. Good. Then later, these two friends and I went to Wal-Mart to get some stuff. Good. Then on the way to HyVee to get some food, some guy in an Escalade decided to rear-end slash RAPE my Civic. Not good. Actually, shitty. I don't have any pictures online yet, but I will eventually.

The cop who came and helped us out got there within 4 minutes of my 911 call, which I thought was rather impressive, seeing as how it took the Ames cops over an hour to get to my first accident my senior year of high school. Lame. Anyways, he was nice, and my car is raped, but drivable. It's also not my fault, so I don't have to pay the $3,587.79 to fix my car. I just want the other insurance company to go ahead and okay it so we can just get the car fixed. In the meantime, I'll probably be driving my mother's red civic.

But, as of now, I'm just kind of sitting at home not doing anything. I should find something to do. I think I'm hanging out with a friend of mine tonight... she's going to Iowa State, and they've already started school (suckers), so um yeah. I had some beers with one of my exes last night. It wasn't bad. I think that I'm more able to articulate what I'm thinking when I'm slightly drunk. For example, there's this guy, right? And he and I haven't really been able to say much about our relationship OR what might turn into a relationship. Generally, it's just been "I don't know what I want" or "I don't know how to say it." Last night though, I put everything out on the table... except for one thing, but I haven't really thought through that enough to be able to talk about it anyway. And the response was positive.

Oh, um. New year's resolutions. I'm going to brush, floss, and flouride every night. Sounds like a stupid resolution, but I need to be nicer to my teeth. I'm also going to wash my face every night before bed, whether I feel like it or not. Because it's always refreshing, and I need that before bed. And once I get that under my belt, I think I'm going to take a yoga class or a pilates class through the city. I'm hoping that it'll be motivation enough to get me into shape slash force me to work out. If I pay for the class, it's pretty likely I'll show up for it. And I should eat better, but I'm not ready to integrate that into my life yet. I have to make sure I have enough time to cook for myself before I can make that a legit resolution.

And that's it. I think I'm driving back to Iowa City on Friday morning. I should order books.

1. My aunt is a dental hygienist and she says you really only have to floss like 3 times a week. Maybe that will help you with your resolution?

2. The cost of your repairs is higher than the value of my car. Thought you should know :)

3. Take a PE class! They are an hour of credit and they're only half a semester long. I am going to take jogging for beginners if I feel like I am handing my classes well by the beginning of March (you can add the 2nd-half ones online even after the semester starts). Plus you'll get an easy A, and you will be motivated to go to make sure you don't fuck up getting an easy A.

4. Let's hang out this weekend.
