tutoring

So, I showed up at the engineering building today to start tutoring. The tutors had a meeting to introduce ourselves and just kind of go over what the policies were, etc. Afterwards, we weren't expecting to have to tutor students, but there were people waiting outside of the room, so some of us (myself included) stuck around to help people out.

There were definitely more people there than I would have expected for the first day of tutoring. Some were older students who just expected the tutors to do their work for them, and then there were some freshman who came in, too. I helped a couple people out with math.

All I've really got to say is that generally, I'm really good when it comes to helping other figure out how to do stuff. But, it's tough when a student doesn't know the fundamentals that I would have expected him/her to have learned in Algebra I or II.

Also, it'll be tough as an engineering student to do well if they aren't very good at math or science. I hope they figure out how to study.

i've still got lots of stuff to get done
